Meet the Firms
Event offers students the opportunity to network and explore future careers
On November 4th, 2021, the Finance Society, Beta Alpha Psi and the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) hosted Meet the Firms, an event sponsored by Becker.
Meet the Firms is an academic recruiting event with the purpose of connecting College of Business students with companies who are looking to hire interns and employees. It was an opportunity for students to practice their interview skills and for professionals to share their experiences.
The firms attending were from various backgrounds and industries such as investment firms AIS Financial
and Edward Jones, financial services companies Ernst & Young and Toyota Financial Services, government contract firm L3Harris along with several CPA firms. Foundation Communities also attended in search of volunteers for their organization.
Students had the opportunity to leave their resumes with an accounting faculty member to be distributed to Texas Instruments, Oasis Paychex and Fidelity Investments.
The sponsoring student organizations had representatives on-site to encourage student membership. Also in attendance were representatives from Career Services, the Lion Wardrobe, Becker and the graduate office.
In addition, Career Services hosted virtual and in-person events in the days leading up to Meet the Firms to help students improve their resumes and networking skills.
Accounting Instructor Terry Brawand organized the event, acquired sponsorship from Becker, invited the firms to attend and encouraged the student organizations and faculty to assist with making this a successful day for College of Business students.
It was an excellent occasion for advice and experience sharing among students, professionals and faculty.
