Six Mount Pleasant ISD Employees Receive Scholarships for Pride Pathway at A&M-Commerce

Six employees at Mount Pleasant ISD (MPISD) recently gained the opportunity to earn their bachelor’s and teacher certification through the Pride Pathway program at A&M-Commerce. The employees received MPISD Tiger Track scholarships to attend the program. The district entered an agreement with A&M-Commerce in 2023 to connect its employees to the program, which addresses teacher shortages in the state.

Pride Pathway empowers school employees across the state to earn their bachelor's degree and teacher certification while still working full-time. Employees who already hold a bachelor's degree can achieve teacher certification through graduate courses that can lead to a master's degree.

Recipients included:

  • Ariana Garrett
  • Harley Henry
  • Morgan Himes
  • Karina Martinez
  • Kearson Scally
  • Raquel Yanez

“We are grateful for this partnership between MPISD and Texas A&M University-Commerce,” said MPISD Deputy Superintendent Debra Malone. “This provides MPISD staff with additional opportunities to pursue their educational goals while still serving students. Ultimately, this is an investment in our staff, our students, and our incredible MPISD community.”
