QEP Committee Monthly Meeting

The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) committee held its second monthly meeting since the beginning of Fall 2016 on  October 6, 2016. Other than the customary delicious home-made food prepared by Dr. Gibson and enjoyed by all attendees, committee members were urged to identify how courses or events, as the case may be, fit into the QEP’s framework. Faculty members were encouraged to have more of the courses in their various departments included in the list of Global courses offered by Texas A&M University-Commerce having met all conditions.

Also discussed was the Global Fellow status applications, which closed recently, received for 9 people and volunteers have received these applications for review. It was mentioned that the Global Scholar status application on the other hand, is now open on Manesync to first-time full-time Freshmen of Fall 2014/Spring 2015 who took the GCAA assessment in their Freshman Success Class, have good academic standing of 3.0 GPA or more and have earned at least 48 credit hours. The application will remain open till November 4, 2016. This is significant because the QEP will be rolling out its first set of Global Scholars since inception at A&M-Commerce. A selected few of the students that receive the Global Scholar status will be eligible for travel abroad scholarship come Summer 2017.

Our monthly QEP meetings help to reinforce the goal of the QEP in the minds of faculty/staff who will in turn impress this on our students. It is the goal of the QEP to prepare our students for an interconnected world!
