Status of University Operations for 01/16/2024
Due to adverse winter weather conditions and to help ensure the safety of our students, faculty, and staff, the Texas A&M University-Commerce campus and Dallas site will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
The following information pertains only to the main campus and A&M-Commerce at Dallas for the duration of this adverse weather period. All other locations will adhere to the decisions of their host institutions.
Academic Expectations:
To minimize disruption of academic activities, all instruction will transition to online for the duration of the adverse weather period. All students are expected to check their email for communication from their professors. All faculty are expected to communicate directly with their students to share information about specific plans for each course and address deadlines for coursework.
Essential Personnel and Departments:
Essential Personnel: Despite the closure, specific employees are deemed essential. Essential personnel will be identified as such by their supervisors and are expected to be on campus if possible. Essential employees who cannot travel to campus should contact their supervisors immediately to determine the best course of action.
Note: At the discretion and written approval of the supervisor, an employee may be designated as essential personnel on an ad hoc basis. Ad hoc essential employees may be asked to work remotely.
Essential Departments: Essential departments include the University Police Department, Food Services, Facilities, IT, Residence Halls, Animal Care, KETR and the Emergency Operations Center. Waters Library, Morris Recreation Center and Rayburn Student Center will remain open with limited operations.
Non-Essential Personnel:
All staff designated as non-essential will not report to campus and will be granted emergency leave. Non-essential personnel are not expected to work remotely unless they are deemed “essential personnel” on an ad hoc basis, as described in the section above.
Off-Site Locations:
Off-site locations (RELLIS, CHEC, Mesquite, and Navarro) will align with decisions made by their host institutions or local school districts regarding early release, cancellations, and closures. A&M-Commerce at Dallas will follow the main campus's directives unless advised differently by the Office of the President.
Technical Support:
For help with technical issues accessing myLEO or D2L, please contact the I.T. Help Desk at [email protected] or call 903.468.6000.

The information above will remain in effect until the university reopens for normal operations. The decision to reopen will be made and communicated as soon as possible to ensure the continued safety of our students, faculty, and staff.
Your safety is our utmost priority, and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding during these challenging weather conditions.
Stay safe and stay warm, Lions!
