TAMUC Alum Named National Forensic Interviewer of the Year

A Texas A&M University-Commerce alum recently received national recognition for their work as a forensic interviewer. Rachel Mitchell was recently named the National Forensic Interviewer of the Year by Guardify, a digital evidence management platform, as part of the platform’s third annual National Forensic Interviewers Week. Forensic interviewing is a means of gathering information from a victim or witness for use in a legal setting, such as a court hearing, and is a key component of many child protective services investigations. A 2011 graduate of A&M-Commerce with a bachelor’s degree in English and a former university staff member, Mitchell works with the Hunt County Children’s Advocacy Center. According to the Center, “her ability to gather crucial information with sensitivity and professionalism has been instrumental in many investigations, ensuring that children’s voices are heard and respected.” Her win was also highlighted in a feature by the Greenville Herald-Banner.
