TAMUC Alum Named Superintendent of Schools for Abilene ISD
A&M-Commerce alum Dr. John Kuhn ('16) is the new superintendent of Abilene Independent School District. He previously served as superintendent at Mineral Wells ISD, overseeing approximately 3,000 students compared to Abilene's 15,000.
“This will be a challenge because there is so much going on,” Kuhn said in an article published by ABC affiliate KTXS. “It’s going to be hard for me to get to every campus. I can get to every campus in my current school district in one day. I can’t do that here. But I can get to every campus here in a week if I work really hard at it.”
Kuhn has 27 years of public education experience. He earned his bachelor's in English and a master's in educational leadership from Tarleton State University before receiving his doctorate in educational leadership from A&M-Commerce.
