TAMUC College of Science and Engineering Names Associate Dean
Dr. Kent Montgomery has been appointed associate dean for the College of Science and Engineering (CoSE) at A&M-Commerce. He has served as associate professor and head of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at A&M-Commerce since 2018.
Montgomery earned a bachelor's in mathematics and physics from Montana State University, a master's in astronomy from San Diego State University and a doctorate in astronomy from Boston University. His research interests include interacting galaxies, low-mass stellar evolution, open and globular star clusters, exoplanets, archaeoastronomy and photometric studies of asteroids.
He arrived at A&M-Commerce in 2005 to oversee completion of the university's planetarium during construction of the Keith D. McFarland Science Building, serving as director until 2018.
Montgomery began his new role on Aug. 1.
