TAMUC Faculty Publishes Book for Children with Unique Names

A&M-Commerce faculty member Dr. Kamshia Childs recently authored the children's book, “I Am More Than My Name.”

Aimed at children from ages six to 10, the book celebrates the beauty of having a unique name through poetic storytelling. Illustrated by Brionya James, it encourages young readers to embrace their individuality and confidently pursue their dreams despite challenges and stereotypes.

The book is available for preorder at Childs's website, with anticipated delivery in early August. Additionally, Childs is scheduled to discuss the book virtually on Dec. 5 from 7-8 p.m. in conjunction with the National Writing Project of Northeast Texas (NWPNET). NWPNET will release signup information at a later date.

Childs is an assistant professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at A&M-Commerce.
