TAMUC Faculty’s Cattle Research Presented at National Conference
Texas A&M University-Commerce Assistant Professor Landon Sullivan was part of a research team that had its research presented at the American Society of Animal Science Annual Meeting in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in July 2024. The project, titled “Unlocking the mysteries of cow and calf grazing behavior on rugged rangeland pastures using GPS and accelerometer sensor technology,” studies factors such as cattle weight, animal hardiness to harsh conditions and how environmental factors, such as heat load and terrain, significantly impacted cattle movement and grazing habits. These findings were published in the Journal of Animal Science in September 2024, and were also featured in the Western Livestock Journal and Working Ranch Radio. See the research here.
