TAMUC Literature & Language Faculty Receive Honors for Scholarly Work
Faculty in the Department of Literature and Languages at Texas A&M University-Commerce were recently recognized by a pair of academic journals in the field of rhetoric and composition. Dr. Gavin Johnson and Dr. Charles Woods, both assistant professors at A&M-Commerce, were honored as part of the advisory board of the Digital Rhetorical Privacy Collective (DRPC), an interactive, coalitional resource that hosts events and features reading lists, activities, assignments, lesson plans and other materials for teaching about digital privacy and surveillance. The DRPC was given the John Lovas Award by Kairos: A Journal of Rhetoric, Technology, and Pedagogy, as well as the Michelle Kendrick Outstanding Digital Production & Scholarship Award by Computers and Composition. Both awards recognize outstanding online projects devoted to academic pursuits. In addition, Johnson, along with York University Assistant Professor Dr. Laura Allen, received the Ellen Nold Award for Outstanding Article from Computers and Composition for their article “Driving Innovation: Analyzing Mobile Ridesharing App Interfaces and Moving Toward Community-based Experience (CBX),” published in the journal Technical Communication.
