TAMUC Students Present at International Educator Convention

This collegiate community is the first of its kind in DKG. The group is part of Beta Lamda, a local DKG chapter comprised of current and retired educators, including faculty and staff at A&M-Commerce. The collaboration provides students with opportunities to network with local educators, gain professional development and attend regional, state and international conventions.

DKG Commerce Collegiate members presented a session at the summer convention detailing how they established their student organization within the local DKG chapter three years ago. DKG members from across the United States and Canada attended the session to learn about starting collegiate communities within their own local chapters. The A&M-Commerce students answered questions and will maintain communication with these professional connections as collegiate communities develop around the world.

Along with attending professional development sessions, the students visited important Washington, DC, sites including the National Archives and several memorials and monuments. The tour provided real-world connections to the social studies standards they will be tested on during their certification exams.
