TEA Appoints TAMUC Alum as Deputy Commissioner of School Programs
The Texas Education Agency recently confirmed its appointment of A&M-Commerce alum Dr. Shannon Trejo ('23) as deputy commissioner for its Office of School Programs.
In her new role, Trejo will oversee three departments tasked with providing resources, services and program models designed to improve educational quality, access and opportunity for all public school students in Texas.
Trejo's career as an administrator in Texas public schools spans more than three decades, with stops at Pasadena ISD, Irving ISD and Dallas ISD.
Trejo earned her doctorate in Educational Administration from A&M-Commerce in Spring 2023 after receiving her bachelor's from The University of Texas at Austin and a master's from The University of Texas at Arlington.
