Three TAMUC Lions Going for Gold at Paris 2024 Olympics

A&M-Commerce is well represented at the 2024 Paris Olympics, with three Lions vying for gold.

A Texas A&M University-Commerce alum and two current students are poised to give it their all for their home nations at the 2024 Olympic Games held in Paris, France.

Alum Joseph Brown and current Lions Mariana Shostak and Ibrahim Fuseini each qualified for the Paris games.

Shostak, competing for her native Ukraine, will participate in the 4x400M Mixed Relay, while Brown, competing for Team USA, will participate in the Men's Discus Throw. Fuseini will represent Ghana in the Men's 4x100m Relay.

A Senior, Shostak has found success in a Lion uniform in several races throughout her career so far. Event wins include the Women's 400m at the 2022 Texas Tech Shootout, the 2022 Jarvis Scott Open, the 2022 ASU Twilight Collegiate meet, and the 2022 Lone Star Conference Championships. She was also part of three Conference Championship-winning 4x400m relay teams in her collegiate career. In June of this year, she won the Ukrainian National Championship in the Women's 400m race.

Brown, a native of Mansfield, Texas, but currently living in Commerce, had a storied career at A&M-Commerce that culminated in the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship in the Men's Discus Throw. A three-time graduate of A&M-Commerce, Brown is also a two-time All-American selection, a seven-time All-Region selection, a six-time All-Conference selection and a two-time Scholar Athlete.

Fuseini has made a name for himself on the track during his two years at A&M-Commerce. The sophomore from Ghana already has four Southland Conference Championships under his belt, being a part of the gold medal-winning Men's 4x100m Relay team in 2023 as well as the Men's 4x400m team in 2024, then winning gold outright in the Men's 100 and 200m in 2024. With team Ghana, Fuseini became an African continental champion in June 2024 in the Men's 4x100m Relay.
