Two College of Business Programs Receive STEM Designation in Fall 2024
The College of Business at Texas A&M University-Commerce is excited to announce the introduction of two STEM-designated master’s programs starting in Fall 2024: the M.S. in Marketing and Marketing Analytics and the M.S. in Finance. These two master’s degree programs will join the college’s existing STEM offerings, including undergraduate and graduate Business Analytics programs and the master’s in Supply Chain Management.
The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) designation is a critical marker of the analytical and technical rigor inherent in these programs. This designation not only underscores the high-quality, transformational learning experiences provided by the College of Business but also offers significant advantages for international students. STEM programs allow international graduates to extend their Optional Practical Training (OPT) period, providing them with up to three years of work authorization in the United States post-graduation, thereby enhancing their career opportunities in the global market.
Scott Wheeler, Dean of the College of Business, emphasized the significance of these new offerings.
“In today's rapidly evolving business landscape, it is essential that we continue to provide programs that are relevant, forward-thinking and provide the workforce the area requires,” Wheeler said. “Our new Marketing Analytics Masters Program and Masters in Finance are designed to equip our students with cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills. At the College of Business, we are committed to delivering transformational learning experiences that prepare our students to lead and innovate in their respective fields.”
In addition to the new programs, the College of Business is actively working to achieve STEM designation for several other programs. This ongoing effort reflects the college’s dedication to staying at the forefront of business education, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to meet the demands of the modern workforce.
By expanding its STEM offerings, the College of Business continues to attract a talented student body and foster a dynamic and broad-based learning environment. These initiatives demonstrate the college's commitment to providing innovative and relevant education that meets the needs of today's business world.
