Undergraduate Nutrition Program Earns Accreditation Candidacy

The Department of Health and Human Performance at East Texas A&M University recently announced that its Bachelor of Science in Nutrition degree program was granted candidacy status by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
This designation by the ACEND acknowledges that the program's curriculum meets the highest standards in the field of nutrition and dietetics, allowing East Texas A&M to now offer students a pathway to becoming a registered dietician nutritionist (RDN).
“Earning candidacy accreditation is a significant milestone for our nutrition program,” said Program Coordinator Kaylie Campbell, M.S. “Our dedicated nutrition faculty are committed to preparing students for careers in nutrition and dietetics. We are excited to expand access to nutrition education and serve our local communities.”
The current Candidacy for Accreditation by the ACEND is for a four-year accreditation term, after which the degree program will be eligible for full accreditation, further enhancing the quality and recognition of the program.
The B.S. in Nutrition is available to undergraduate students interested in earning RDN licensure. The program experience includes clinical nutrition, food service management and community nutrition. After completion of the degree program, students are eligible to take a national board examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
