University Conducts Learning, Living, and Working Climate Survey

Texas A&M University-Commerce began distributing the Learning, Living, and Working Climate Survey on February 23.

The survey was sent to faculty/staff and students, and will evaluate the climate health of all A&M-Commerce locations. The survey is being conducted by the Climate Study Working Group, which is made up of students, faculty and staff, and Rankin & Associates, who is responsible for the development, implementation and interpretation of the survey and its results. All students, faculty and staff who complete the survey will have a chance to opt-in to a lottery for a chance to win several prizes, such as t-shirts, headphones, lanyards, scholarships for students, and season football tickets for faculty and staff.

Dr. Susan Rankin, the lead consultant on the Climate Study Working Group, defines campus climate as “the current attitudes, behaviors and standards of faculty, staff, administrators, and students concerning the level of respect for individual needs, abilities and potential.” The survey will help the university work towards nurturing this kind of campus climate and a culture of inclusion whereby people of any background, who live, learn, and work at A&M-Commerce feel comfortable and respected.

“This survey will help the university develop targeted, focused strategies to help move us closer and closer to the achievement of one of our most important Guiding Principles:  diversity in all of its dimensions,” said President Dan R. Jones.
