Peter Obuzor Scholarship
Celebrating an Extraordinary Life
In the 1970s, Peter Obuzor immigrated from Nigeria to the United States of America in pursuit of a higher education. After obtaining an undergraduate degree at the Philander Smith College in Arkansas, Peter Obuzor advanced to pursue an MBA at East Texas State University, now East Texas A&M University.
His story was one of grit, as the journey was characterized by uncertainty at various milestones, but it was also filled with hope. Whenever he found himself at a crossroads, he remembered the famous phrase from Shakespeare’s “Hamlet”: “To be or not to be.” To Peter, the phrase represented the choice to keep his dream alive or abandon it. Irrespective of the difficulties and challenges he faced, whether social, economic, or cultural, he always chose “to be…” Peter had a strong drive for excellence, and as such, this scholarship is meant to add a few drops of fuel to keep the light on or to rekindle the flame. Never give up on your dreams!
Thank you for your support!
Even though we continue to miss his smile, laughter, and genuine kindness, we can still honor his legacy. Thank you to all who are making a tribute for student scholarships. It would have brought him joy to know your gift today will make a difference in the lives of Lion students.
