A Conversation with Dr. Adair
Why do you like teaching?
I love the “aha” moments in students who may not have been exposed to theatre but eventually realize how impactful it can be in their lives.
What is your favorite course to teach?
That's like asking which of my children is my favorite. They all have great aspects about them and the variety of topics keeps me perpetually interested in learning.
What do you like most about your career?
The wonderful people I've met, the friendships I've kept, and the variety of places I've lived and visited are all thanks to my life in the arts.
What is a current project in which you are involved?
I'm currently working on a musical about the five women murdered by Jack the Ripper called Get Jack with Kip Winger and Damien Gray.
Who is one of your role models and how did they impact you?
Dr. John Hanners, Head of Theatre when I was a graduate student, believed in my ability to develop my craft and to become a theatre scholar. He mentored me throughout my master's work and encouraged me throughout my Ph.D. program at UT-D.
What is your favorite place in Commerce?
Cork & Brew.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love to spend time with my sons, perform in and direct shows, conduct choirs, and ride my motorcycle.
