Dr. Andrea Perry is a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents and families. She uses evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness to help clients overcome challenges in daily life. Perry assists students working with clients living with a wide range of concerns, including grief, crisis intervention, trauma, serious illness, PTSD, depression, anxiety/panic, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and many other psychological and behavioral challenges.

Perry is a proud Lion alum, having obtained her Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Counselor Education and Supervision and her master's degree in counseling from A&M-Commerce. She has worked in various counseling settings, including a psychiatric hospital, private practice, a university counseling center, and now as an ad interim professor.

Perry is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and a National Certified Counselor. She believes in treating everyone with respect and compassion while providing a safe and therapeutic environment. She has presented on topics related to marriage and the family, trauma, crisis intervention and suicide prevention.

What has been your favorite course to teach?

The graduate course, COUN 611: Introduction to Marriage and Family. This course introduces graduate students to the historical developments and principal conceptualizations of marital and family therapy. After completing this course, students have a better idea of various marriage and family therapy theories.
