A Conversation with Mrs. Scott
Tell us a little about yourself.
“I graduated with an MBA in 2004 and obtained Texas CPA in 2006. My background includes over 17 years of higher education accounting, post-secondary instruction and experience in for-profit and not-for-profit accounting.”
What draws you to your discipline?
“Accounting is the language of business and a high demand field. Having a foundation in accounting will not only benefit you in your career, but also, help you make educated decisions regarding career plans, investments and various other long-term decisions. An accounting career can be extremely flexible allowing you to achieve your personal goals and aspirations.”
What has been your favorite course to teach?
“I love teaching Principles of Accounting I. Students learn so much in this course; oftentimes much more than they knew they could. I particularly enjoyed having students who came into the classroom on day one, skeptical, who later told me they decided to change their major to accounting after realizing how applicable and valuable an accounting degree is.”
