As an administrative assistant for the Department of Counseling, Christie Sifuentes is dedicated to helping students succeed and is always ready to offer support. She is a motivated leader who understands what it takes to persevere regardless of the obstacles, such as working full time while raising a family. Role models including her mother, grandmother and previous employer taught her the importance of respect, strength and compassion. Christie uses this wisdom daily to inspire others through her unwavering determination and dedication to her work.
Christie cherishes her family, which she considers the most important aspect of her life. She can often be found enjoying time with her family at home, camping or hiking.

What would you tell a student who is considering A&M-Commerce? What sets A&M-Commerce apart?
I enjoyed the hometown feel I experienced at A&M-Commerce as I embarked on my professional career training. You will receive a quality education and gain professional experience. Thanks to the caring nature and community Commerce provides, you will be hard-pressed to feel homesick living on campus.
What do you like most about your current role?
I enjoy working to help students of all ages pursue their future endeavors. My passion is helping students of all ages better themselves and feel successful regardless of their background or career path.
How do you help students in your current role?
I help students connect with faculty and staff who can answer those hard questions, or help find their path. I provide tips for success, organizational skills, dealing with changes and learning self-worth. I also help them obtain permits for those important classes.

I interviewed and expressed my passion for helping people succeed and feel important.
What is an important life lesson you have learned?
I have learned life is full of changes, both hard ones and easy ones. You must be able to tuck and roll with the changes that present themselves. Always look for the positive aspect in any situation. There is always a positive note in any life change. If you do what you love, you will never work a day.
