Clay Stanfield is a native Texan, born and raised in the Dallas area. He attended Texas A&M University on an NROTC scholarship and served in the U.S. Navy for six years after graduating in 1999. He discovered a love for physics and education upon teaching as a second career in 2009.

In his pursuit to become a more effective teacher, Clay earned graduate degrees in physics and education. He joined the Department of Physics at A&M-Commerce in 2019 as part of a grant to help inspire and teach the next generation of physics and other STEM-field educators. He now works in the LeoTeach STEM program and manages the Learning Assistants program.
