A Conversation with Cristina
What is your current employment/career?
I am currently working at the Dallas Counseling and Treatment Center as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
What do you like most about being a licensed professional counselor?
I like the encouragement to further my learning and training in counseling modalities as well as the structure to have better work-life balance.
How did A&M-Commerce prepare you for your position as a professional counselor?
My first undergraduate psychology class with Dr. Krueger was one of the most influential psychology classes I attended. It was one of the first psychology classes I took on campus and Dr. Krueger introduced me to another side of psychology on campus: the research labs! That class led me to connect with her and she invited me into her metacognition lab where I would be involved in the research process during my undergraduate and graduate years. I learned so much working with her!
What advice do you have for students?
Get involved! A&M-Commerce offers so many great opportunities for learning and experience. Connect with the professor from a class you enjoy! Join the groups and begin meeting people!
