Emil Miralda Motion Graphic Artist
- Alum

Emil has loved gaming since high school. He wanted to go to college to design video games at first, but found visual communications at East Texas A&M where he developed into an artist who tells stories through his work. When Emil is not working, he builds gaming PCs and watches movies. His favorite part about movies their ability to visually illustrate how written stories. Through these stories, Emil gets his creative inspiration and ideas for expressing abstract concepts in a variety of ways using visuals.
A Conversation with Emil Miralda
Why did you choose East Texas A&M?
When I was looking for a university, I was set on video game design, and I had a college advisor who went through a few schools in Texas that she thought might be a good fit. She included Commerce because they have a solid design program, visual communication. The advisor presented it to me as an option just in case the video game design did not go so well. I decided to go visit. The scholarship for a first-year leadership class was the deciding factor for my going to Commerce.
What would you tell a student who is thinking about attending East Texas A&M?
East Texas A&M has one of the best programs in North Texas for aspiring designers. Smaller classes, more one-to-one interactions and personalized learning. The professors are some of the best creators in the visual design industry. Visual Communication is a proven program where both professors and students win national awards and some of the alumni have gone on to work with some top-rated creative firms in Texas. East Texas A&M offers many scholarships and grants to help students and has been very generous with me which helped me get my education. I found out about the funding opportunities as I was applying for admission.
What do you like most about being a motion graphic artist?
I help animate stories and create visual representations for hard-to-understand concepts. For example, I have created animations representing inflation, baby formula shortages and the NBA Western Conference finals. My work helps others understand vague and abstract concepts. I like incorporating animations and graphics with real-world stories and current events that viewers may not understand otherwise. Sometimes I am working with something that I do not know much about like kefir. After researching and learning about kefir, I was able to create informative visuals for the Wellness Wednesday segment on kefir.
