Why did you choose your major/what draws you to your discipline?

I chose my major in Business Analytics because of my passion for leveraging data to drive strategic decisions and optimize business processes. The ability to transform raw data into actionable insights fascinates me, and I am drawn to the powerful impact that data analysis can have on an organization's success. My experiences working on varied projects have reinforced my belief in the value of data-driven decision-making. Additionally, founding Alice Insights has allowed me to see firsthand how business intelligence tools can significantly benefit small and medium-sized enterprises. This discipline combines my interests in technology, business, and problem-solving, making it the perfect fit for my career aspirations.

What has been your favorite course?

My favorite courses have been Database Management, Business Analytics Programming, and Data Visualization. These courses allowed me to delve deeply into the practical applications of various analytical tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, and SQL (ETL) using Visual Studio. I enjoyed learning how to transform complex data sets into intuitive and interactive visualizations that can drive strategic business decisions. The hands-on projects, including developing dashboards, writing SQL queries, writing Python scripts, and implementing ETL processes, were particularly engaging and reinforced my passion for leveraging data to solve real-world business challenges. These courses not only enhanced my technical skills but also highlighted the importance of clear and effective communication in the field of data analytics.

You’ll have the chance to participate in hackathons and other competitions and win prizes, join student organizations like the Marketing and Business Analytics Student Organization and so many other national organizations, and even start your own initiatives.
