She is excited to join the team at East Texas A&M University’s School of Nursing, where she is eager to inspire and mentor the next generation of healthcare professionals.

A Conversation with Dr. Hammer

Why do you like teaching?

I am preparing the next generation of nurses. What an honor and responsibility.

Who is one of your role models and how did they impact you?

So many great nurses! The first was Jerry Blaylock, Ph.D., RN, who was one of my first undergraduate instructors. She made me laugh and learn!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I am married, have two amazing children, and am blessed with three adorable grandkids and one on the way!
