JillAnn moved to Texas in 2014 from Oklahoma where she spent most of her career at the University of Oklahoma in Admissions & Recruitment. She has recently returned to higher education after a short hiatus in the non-profit sector.
In the Office of Intercultural Engagement & Leadership, she manages much of the financial and HR aspects of the department, as well as various office initiatives, such as Mane Event and Lions Leap each year. The energy students bring to the office is contagious and they are the best part of her job.
A Conversation with JillAnn
What would you tell a student who is thinking about attending A&M-Commerce?
Come see us! If you are new or have not made many connections yet on campus, please stop by our office and introduce yourself. This campus is very friendly and filled with faculty and staff that are committed to the success of its students. This is the right place for you if you are seeking a positive, supportive and fun college experience.
What makes you passionate about Intercultural Engagement & Leadership?
The students. A&M-Commerce students are so special. They are changemakers that will have an impact wherever they end up after A&M-Commerce. Difficult conversations organically happen where students can share their thoughts, fears, successes, explore biases in themselves and others and just enjoy being in a safe place where you can be yourself.
What do you like most about your career?
I love the energy of campus life and students. I am grateful for the privilege to witness students' development and pursuit of their dreams. To be a very small part of that feeds my soul. The spark in their eyes and the openness of a heart and mind that has endless possibilities inspires me and assures me that our future is in good hands
