Joi Saville

Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement

Originally from West Virginia, Joi Saville grew up on a beef cattle operation and was actively involved in 4-H, showing cattle and horses. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a double major in animal science and agricultural economics. Throughout her career, she has held various positions, including field editor, agricultural lender, insurance agent and extension specialist. Saville spent over 15 years with Virginia Cooperative Extension, focusing on youth livestock production, adult producer education and 4-H programming.

She is married with two sons and a daughter. Her daughter recently graduated from Northern Oklahoma College, specializing in ag communications and was on the livestock judging team.

A Conversation with Joi

How do you help students?

As the assistant director of Alumni Engagement with a focus on events, I hope to help students by organizing networking opportunities that connect them with alumni for mentorship, internships, and job placements to support their career growth and development.

What is something you enjoy about working at A&M-Commerce?

I enjoy working at A&M-Commerce because of its welcoming and supportive culture. Everyone is kind and eager to help. Moving from Virginia without my extended family has been difficult, but my colleagues make me feel right at home.

What draws you to your discipline?

I was drawn to event planning because it fosters a sense of belonging for anyone. It provides an environment that encourages interaction among those who share a common thread. I love seeing people enjoying themselves as they mix and mingle with fellow attendees.
