Earning a graduate degree was the best decision I ever made. It enhanced my academic knowledge, increased my self-esteem, and developed my skills as a leader. I learned how to effectively communicate with others, problem solve, manage my time, work collaboratively, and be adaptable to change. All of these qualities prepared me to be a successful music educator and inspired me to become an instructional leader.

Mrs. Hernandez started her career in 2006 as an elementary music teacher in Garland ISD. It was during these developing years as a music educator where she made the impactful decision to join the very first elementary music cohort masters program led by Darla Meek. After graduating from the program in 2015, she became a middle school band director and high school percussion bassline tech. In 2022, she earned her Principal as Instructional Leader certificate. She is currently serving in her third year as an elementary assistant principal
