A Conversation with Dr. Featherston

What draws you to your discipline?

Daily physical activity is something I am very passionate about; the physical and psychological benefits are endless. My goal is to help others adopt physical activity for a lifetime and enjoy the process.

What has been your favorite course to teach?

The course I am most excited to teach is Adapted Physical Education. I enjoy teaching children and young adults of all abilities how to make physical activity a lifetime skill, and I have some exciting plans for this class. I’m excited to see the experiences that A&M-Commerce undergraduate students have during this course.

Tell us about a project you are currently working on or recently completed.

Community engagement is something I am very passionate about. What are we doing this for if we cannot use our skill sets to impact others positively? This semester, I hope to bring together local Special Olympic athletes and A&M-Commerce undergraduate students for community events that get all groups up and moving! Stay tuned!
