I came to A&M-Commerce in Fall 2014. I discovered my passion for applied math, which led me to major in mathematics and minor in computer science.
The Department of Mathematics was welcoming and supportive of my goal of pursuing research opportunities. Faculty members ensure students are challenged and they’re passionate about student success. I completed my honors thesis under the supervision of Dr. Padmapani Seneviratne in error-correcting codes. He was supportive and pushed me to develop as a mathematician.
I also want to thank Dr. Mehmet Celik for encouraging me to be involved in the Math Club and the Calculus Bowl. It was so much fun competing in the Calculus Bowl and I made wonderful memories with my teammates. More importantly, Dr. Celik guided me along my undergraduate journey when I had doubts about my classes and graduate school.
After graduating in 2018, I entered the Mathematical Modeling doctoral program at Rochester Institute of Technology with a focus on biomedical mathematics. I successfully defended my dissertation in September 2023 and am now starting at Pfizer as a senior scientist in the Translational Modeling and Simulations division.
