What’s even better than living a healthy life? Helping others do the same. Learning how to design exercise programs to optimize the human body for health and performance is what the bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and sports studies with exercise science emphasis is all about. This major provides a broad and scientific education about the human body, how it performs during exercise and how it adapts to various training programs. Students will learn to assess fitness, interpret findings, and prescribe individual and group exercise and fitness programs for individuals who are apparently healthy and those with controlled disease.
Graduates will also be skilled in evaluating health behaviors and motivating individuals to modify negative health habits and maintain positive lifestyle behaviors for health promotion. Learning and skill development will occur through a variety of methods including lecture, labs, hands-on experience, as well as an internship. Exercise Science graduates possess knowledge and skills desirable in multiple industries. Kinesiology and Sports Studies (BS) Allied Health Emphasis
The bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and sports studies with an emphasis in allied health provides you a background in kinesiology that prepares you for an allied health graduate program. Take prerequisite courses for allied health programs such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training and other allied health professions. Select support courses based on the prerequisites for specific professional school programs.
Kinesiology and Sports Studies (BS) General Kinesiology Emphasis
The bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and sports studies prepares students for employment in a wide variety of settings in the fitness industry, in the sports and allied health field, rehabilitation clinics, sports teams, and more. The general kinesiology track is designed to prepare individuals for graduate school (e.g. kinesiology, physical therapy, occupational therapy).
Kinesiology and Sports Studies (BS) Strength and Conditioning Emphasis
The strength and conditioning concentration at East Texas A&M helps you become a skilled performance coach by combining hands-on experience with a deep understanding of sports science. You’ll prepare for advanced certifications and gain the tools to succeed as a strength and conditioning coach and optimize your clients’ performance and outcomes.
Kinesiology and Sports Studies (BS) Teaching Emphasis
Physical Education Teacher Education – all-level certification is designed to prepare teachers for early childhood through grade twelve in physical education.

Tuition and fees for undergraduate students taking 12 credit hours are $4,212 for Texas residents and $9,108 for non-residents.
