The strength and conditioning concentration at East Texas A&M's Department of Health and Human Performance helps you prepare to become a skilled performance coach. You'll gain a deep understanding of the science behind optimizing human potential, along with real-world experience in the strength and conditioning field. This program blends sport science, management skills and coaching techniques for individuals and groups. Upon graduation, you will be positioned to gain advanced certifications in strength and conditioning, evaluate new technologies in sports science and be a strong advocate for your clients. With hands-on experience and expertise, you will be equipped for a career as a certified strength and conditioning coach.

Note: This program provides the educational preparation to sit for the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist exam through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

What You Will Learn

A bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and sports studies with a strength and conditioning emphasis will offer the opportunity to:

  • Learn basic and advanced knowledge of human body function and movement.
  • Engage in strength and conditioning programming and methodology.
  • Apply methods of fitness testing, analysis and integration.
  • Learn concepts of nutrition, hydration and sport fueling.
  • Acquire concepts of leadership and administration.
  • Obtain field experience through an internship.

CASCE Accreditation Pending

We are in the process of completing accreditation through the Council on Accreditation of Strength and Conditioning Education (CASCE) and have finished the self study.

Course Delivery

Designed for part- and full-time students, most courses are offered at our main campus in Commerce and our locations in Frisco and McKinney (CHEC).

Program Costs

Tuition and fees for undergraduate students taking 12 credit hours are $4,212 for Texas residents and $9,108 for non-residents.
