Welcome from the Writing Center Director

Since 1977, the Writing Center at East Texas A&M has supported the writing of students, faculty and staff. We welcome writing projects at any stage, from brainstorming to polishing. We are also here to coach you through writing-heavy semesters and long projects (like theses, dissertations or book projects). We believe writing is learned best in inquisitive collaboration and understand our role primarily as readers who provide interested, thoughtful and open-minded responses. We are writers ourselves, and as such, we learn both from and alongside the writers that visit the Center. We value every literacy background writers bring to the Center, from vocabularies, dialects, and languages used at home, work, school and from regions and/or nations not our own. Our goal is to support you in bringing your writing skills to different contexts and practicing new skills along the way. In one-on-one sessions, we discuss the writing project, process, context and possibilities, aiming to support writers in developing and accomplishing their unique writing goals.
